This week’s training run is on Saturday, September 5th, along Beach Drive from Peirce Mill in Rock Creek Park.  The coaches are Kevin and Ram. 

Please remember to sign up for the run by Noon on Thursday (9/3).
 
Social safety requirements:
  • Do not participate if you are feeling sick or ill, and or have a fever, or if you have been in contact with someone unrecovered from COVID-19
  • Social distancing of at least 6 feet should be practiced at all times.
  • Face masks must be worn for the arrival, initial announcements, and any post run conversations.
  • Face masks are optional during the run as long as at least 6 feet of social distancing can be maintained.
  • If more than 10 people are present, the coaching staff will split the participants into groups of less than 10 to provide initial announcements and course information.
  • All participants must bring their own food and drink and no sharing is permitted.
  • Runners must maintain at least a 6 foot social distance during the run and may run only in well-spaced groups of no more than 3.

Park either in the small lot or along the street.

Starting Time: The run starts at 7:00 AM.

Distance: The scheduled mileage is 12 miles for full- and half-marathon trainees.
 

Route:  The route starts heading south along the Rock Creek Trail (RCT) for ~1.4 miles to the tunnel entrance, turnaround, then ~5.5 miles north on RCT and Beach Drive to Wise Road (the high point on Beach Drive). Return downhill on Beach Drive. The new twist (literally) this week is we detour out-and-back (1.6 mile total) on the closed Bingham Road that's ~1.5 miles from Wise Road. Then return to Peirce Mill on Beach Drive.

 
The aid-station will be at the Bingham Road intersection.  Runners will pass the aid-station 3 times.
